I believe the words hustle and grind are being thrown around as fad words. I wonder what those that use the word know what it means. First showing up to your job every day is not a measure of your performance that is your attendance.

Yesterday I made a post about putting in the work soon after I received private messages from people challenging my post and others wondering if I was talking about them.

Here is how I feel when it comes to the grind, hustle that we call work. You have to make sacrifices, very rarely is their success without some sacrifice. When you sacrifice you give up something to gain something. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve given up weekends, birthdays and so much more to learn more with the goal of being better. I made the decision a long time ago that when I learn something, I will master it and continue to be a student of it. I have a rule that should I end up being the smartest person in the room on a topic I would leave because I’m not learning.

We all have the grind and hustle inside of us, but it is a choice if you release your grind, hustle. Do you take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself to you? Do you study your passion and learn to be great? Are you judging your performance by your attendance? Doing a great job is expected of you regardless of your title and position but exceeding in your current role or space is when a commitment to your grind and hustle begins.

It’s interesting when I think of someone that is from a deprived town or community, and they become an icon in a category via sports, business. Then there is the person from the big city that takes advantage of all the opportunities presented and they too become an icon in their group. Very rarely do we hear of the people that settle or are middle of the road that become a trailblazer or an icon. It is the grind and hustle that separates us all.

Rewards in business don’t often come to those who are satisfactory. The rewards follow those who are exceptional.
When the grind, hustle become part of you others will see it without you having to say anything about it. Now go grind and release the hustle inside of you.
