Media is not included in the character count

• You’ll now be able to post photos, videos, GIFs and polls without limiting your character count! Although a picture is worth a thousand words, you’ll now be able to post media without your text being affected.

• What does this mean for your brand? While you’re still limited to 140 characters, your message will not be hindered by any media files you decide to share with your followers. What to do with all of those characters! ?

Quote and Retweet Yourself

• Before today, Twitter did not allow anyone to quote or re-tweet their own tweets. Now, if you posted a really tweet a while back, you’re able to re-post again without being hindered. This would be great for #tbt posts that are popular across social media.

• Also, under the new character rules, when you quote a previous tweet, it will not be counted towards your character limit.

• What does this mean for your brand? If you want to recall a tweet from the past and add a new comment to inform your followers, you now have that capability.
